Radically Reimagining: The Human Relationship with Nature

The Book Project

Radically Reimagining: The Human Relationship with Nature, a coffee table / art book that will be sold in bookstores and gift shops. The book will be comprised of essays and art photographs on twelve key environmental issues.

Each topic will have a writer and artist collaborator paired to co-create approximately ten pages of text and visual imagery to depict the topic. Our writers and artists are Arizona thought-leaders in the sustainability space, with a diverse range of backgrounds and expertise—poets, virtual reality creators, academics, fictional authors, painters, photographers, and culinary artists.

This project emerged from the Radically Reimaging Earth Day events and Arizona Sustainability Leadership Awards (https://radicallyreimagining.com), supported by several departments at Arizona State University. Many of our contributors have applied for Artist Opportunity Grant funding from Arizona Commission for the Arts.

We are currently pitching the project to an Arizona-based university press but are also exploring alternative publication venues.

An art book of writers and artists paired to co-create new ways of relating to nature and one another on topics ranging from wildfire to farming, trails to fashion

Our Team

  • Karen Bradshaw, Editor

It all begins with an idea. Karen is the e founder of the Radically Reimagining Initiative. She delights in bringing together interesting, dynamic groups for an unfolding project in collectively reimagining new ways of being in relation to the natural world. The book is the latest iteration of the Initiative, designed to capture the spirit of Radically Reimagining in a tangible, physical form that can go forth into the world.

  • Alex Shaw, Photographer

Alex is a portrait and lifestyle photographer, inspired by travel, diversity in nature and the human experience. Her work captures beauty and authenticity with a refreshing perspective. She believes the camera is only a small part of the photography process and that emotional connection is the driving force of great work.
